Protection
(Note: These verses are about the protection of Allah – reciting them may not necessarily mean you will receive the protection of Allah. If you want to receive the protection of Allah, simply make a dua.)
Surah Al-Baqara – Chapter 2, verse 67
وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَذْبَحُوا بَقَرَةً ۖ قَالُوا أَتَتَّخِذُنَا هُزُوًا ۖ قَالَ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنَ الْجَاهِلِينَ
Wa iz qaala Moosaa liqawmiheee innal laaha yaamurukum an tazbahoo baqaratan qaalooo atattakhizunna huzuwan qaala a'oozu billaahi an akoona minal jaahileen
And then recall when Moses said to his people: “Behold, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow.” They said: “Are you jesting with us?” Moses answered: “I seek refuge in Allah that I should behave in the manner of the ignorant.”
Surah Al-Baqara – Chapter 2, verses 201 to 202
(201) وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقُولُ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ نَصِيبٌ مِمَّا كَسَبُوا ۚ وَاللَّهُ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ (202)
(201) Wa minhum mai yaqoolu rabbanaaa aatina fid dunyaa hasanatanw wa fil aakhirati hasanatanw wa qinaa azaaban Naar (202) Ulaaa'ika lahum naseebum mimmaa kasaboo; wal laahu saree'ul hisaab
(201) There are others who say: “Our Lord, grant us what is good in this world and what is good in the World to Come, and protect us from the chastisement of the Fire.” (202) They shall have a portion from what they earned; Allah is quick in reckoning.
Suran Ali-Imran – Chapter 3, verses 16 to 17
(16) الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
الصَّابِرِينَ وَالصَّادِقِينَ وَالْقَانِتِينَ وَالْمُنْفِقِينَ وَالْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ بِالْأَسْحَارِ (17)
(16) Allazeena yaqooloona Rabbanaaa innanaaa aamannaa faghfir lanaa zunoobanaa wa qinaa 'azaaban Naar (17) Assaabireena wassaa diqeena walqaaniteena walmunfiqeena walmus taghfireena bil as-har
(16) These are the ones who pray: 'Our Lord! We do indeed believe, so forgive us our sins and keep us safe from the chastisement of the Fire'; (17) men who are steadfast, truthful, obedient, spend (in the way of Allah) and implore the forgiveness of Allah before daybreak.
Surah Ali-Imran – Chapter 3, verse 36
فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْهَا قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَضَعْتُهَا أُنْثَىٰ وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا وَضَعَتْ وَلَيْسَ الذَّكَرُ كَالْأُنْثَىٰ ۖ وَإِنِّي سَمَّيْتُهَا مَرْيَمَ وَإِنِّي أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
Falammaa wada'at haa qaalat Rabbi innee wada'tuhaaa unsaa wallaahu a'lamu bimaa wada'at wa laisaz zakaru kalunsaa wa innee sammaituhaa Maryama wa innee u'eezuhaa bika wa zurriyyatahaa minash Shaitaanir Rajeem
But when she gave birth to a female child, she said: 'O Lord! I have given birth to a female' - and Allah knew full well what she had given birth to - 'and a female is not the same as a male. I have named her Mary and commit her and her offspring to You for protection from Satan, the accursed.'
Surah Ali-Imran – Chapter 3, verse 54
وَمَكَرُوا وَمَكَرَ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ
Wa makaroo wa makaral laahu wallaahu khairul maakireen (Section 5)
Then they schemed (against the Messiah), and Allah countered their schemes by schemes of His own. Allah is the best of schemers.
Surah Ali-Imran – Chapter 3, verse 191
الَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ اللَّهَ قِيَامًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَٰذَا بَاطِلًا سُبْحَانَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Allazeena yazkuroonal laaha qiyaamanw-wa qu'oodanw-wa 'alaa juno obihim wa yatafakkaroona fee khalqis samaawaati wal ardi Rabbanaa maa khalaqta haaza baatilan Subhaanaka faqinaa 'azaaban Naar
Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting or (reclining) on their backs, and reflect in the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): 'Our Lord! You have not created this in vain. Glory to You! Save us, then, from the chastisement of the Fire.
Surah Al-Araf – Chapter 7, verse 200
وَإِمَّا يَنْزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ ۚ إِنَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ
Wa immaa yanzaghannaka minash Shaitaani nazghun fasta'iz billaah; innahoo Samee'un Aleem
And if it happens that a prompting from Satan should stir you up, seek refuge with Allah. He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
Surah Al-Anfal – Chapter 8, verse 30
وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَ ۚ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اللَّهُ ۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ الْمَاكِرِينَ
Wa iz yamkuru bikal lazeena kafaroo liyusbitooka aw yaqtulooka aw yukhrijook; wa yamkuroona wa yamkurul laahu wallaahu khairul maakireen
And recall how those who disbelieved schemed against you to take you captive, or kill you, or drive you away. They schemed and Allah did also scheme. Allah is the best of those who scheme.
Surah Hud – Chapter 11, verse 47
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْأَلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِي بِهِ عِلْمٌ ۖ وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِي وَتَرْحَمْنِي أَكُنْ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ
Qaala rabbi inneee a'oozu bika an as'alaka maa laisa lee bihee 'ilmunw wa illaa taghfir lee wa tarhamneee akum minal khaasireen
Noah said: 'My Lord! I take refuge with You that I should ask you for that concerning which I have no knowledge. And if You do not forgive me and do not show mercy to me, I shall be among the losers.
Surah Yusuf – Chapter 12, verse 23
وَرَاوَدَتْهُ الَّتِي هُوَ فِي بَيْتِهَا عَنْ نَفْسِهِ وَغَلَّقَتِ الْأَبْوَابَ وَقَالَتْ هَيْتَ لَكَ ۚ قَالَ مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ رَبِّي أَحْسَنَ مَثْوَايَ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَا يُفْلِحُ الظَّالِمُونَ
Wa raawadat hul latee huwa fee baitihaa 'an nafsihee wa ghallaqatil abwaaba wa qaalat haita lak; qaala ma'aazal laahi innahoo rabbeee ahsana maswaay; innahoo laa yuflihuz-zaalimoon
And it so happened that the lady in whose house Joseph was living, sought to tempt him to herself, and one day bolting the doors she said: "Come on now!" Joseph answered: "May Allah grant me refuge! My Lord has provided an honourable abode for me (so how can I do something so evil)? Such wrong-doers never prosper."
Surah Ar-Ra’ad – Chapter 13, verse 11
لَهُ مُعَقِّبَاتٌ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ يَحْفَظُونَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِ اللَّهِ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُغَيِّرُ مَا بِقَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُوا مَا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ۗ وَإِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ سُوءًا فَلَا مَرَدَّ لَهُ ۚ وَمَا لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِهِ مِنْ وَالٍ
Lahoo mu'aqqibaatum mim baini yadaihi wa min khalfihee yahfazoonahoo min amril laah; innal laaha laa yughaiyiru maa biqawmin hattaa yughaiyiroo maa bianfusihim; wa izaaa araadal laahu biqawmin sooo'an falaa maradda lah; wa maa lahum min dooniheeminw waal
There are guardians over everyone, both before him and behind him, who guard him by Allah's command. Verily Allah does not change a people's condition unless they change their inner selves. And when Allah decides to make a people suffer punishment, no one can avert it. Nor can any be of help to such a people against Allah.
Surah An-Nahl – Chapter 16, verse 81
وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِمَّا خَلَقَ ظِلَالًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ أَكْنَانًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ سَرَابِيلَ تَقِيكُمُ الْحَرَّ وَسَرَابِيلَ تَقِيكُمْ بَأْسَكُمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُسْلِمُونَ
Wallaahu ja'ala lakum mimmaa khalaqa zilaalanw wa ja'ala lakum minal jibaali aknaananw wa ja'ala lakum saraabeela taqeekumul harra wa saraabeela taqeekum baasakum; kazaalika yutimmu ni'matahoo alaikum la'allakum tuslimoon
And Allah has provided shade for you out of some of the things He has created; and He has provided you with shelters in the mountains, and has given you coats that protect you from heat as well as coats that protect you in battle. Thus does He complete His favour upon you that you may submit to Him.
Surah An-Nahl – Chapter 16, verse 98
فَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ الْقُرْآنَ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
Fa izaa qara tal Quraana fasta'iz billaahi minashh Shai taanir rajeem
Whenever you read the Qur'an seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed.
Surah Maryam – Chapter 19, verse 18
قَالَتْ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِالرَّحْمَٰنِ مِنْكَ إِنْ كُنْتَ تَقِيًّا
Qaalat inneee a'oozu bir Rahmaani minka in kunta taqiyyaa
Mary exclaimed: "I surely take refuge from you with the Most Compassionate Lord, if you are at all God-fearing."
Surah Al-Mu’minun – Chapter 23, verses 97 to 98
وَقُلْ رَبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ
وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَنْ يَحْضُرُونِ
(97) Wa qur Rabbi a'oozu bika min hamazaatish Shayaateen (98) Wa a'oozu bika Rabbi ai-yahduroon
(97) And pray: "My Lord! I seek Your refuge from the suggestions of the evil ones; (98) I even seek Your refuge, my Lord, lest they should approach me."
Surah Ghafir – Chapter 40, verse 7
الَّذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ الْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ رَحْمَةً وَعِلْمًا فَاغْفِرْ لِلَّذِينَ تَابُوا وَاتَّبَعُوا سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ
Allazeena yahmiloonal 'Arsha wa man hawlahoo yusabbihoona bihamdi Rabbihim wa yu'minoona bihee wa yastaghfiroona lillazeena aamanoo Rabbanaa wasi'ta kulla shai'ir rahmatanw wa 'ilman faghfir lillazeena taaboo wattaba'oo sabeelaka wa qihim 'azaabal Jaheem
The angels that bear the Throne and those that are around to extol your Lord's glory with His praise, they believe in Him, and ask forgiveness for the believers, saying: “Our Lord! You encompass everything with Your Mercy and Knowledge. So forgive those that repent and follow Your Path, and guard them against the chastisement of Hell.
Surah Ghafir – Chapter 40, verse 27
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ إِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٍ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِيَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ
Wa qaala Moosaaaa innee 'uztu bi Rabbee wa Rabbikum min kulli mutakabbiril laayu'minu bi Yawmil Hisaab (section 3)
Moses said: “I have taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord from everyone who waxes arrogant and does not believe in the Day of Reckoning.”
Surah Ghafir – Chapter 40, verse 45
فَوَقَاهُ اللَّهُ سَيِّئَاتِ مَا مَكَرُوا ۖ وَحَاقَ بِآلِ فِرْعَوْنَ سُوءُ الْعَذَابِ
Fa waqaahul laahu saiyiaati maa makaroo wa haaqa bi Aali-Fir'awna sooo'ul 'azaab
Eventually Allah saved the person endowed with faith from all the evils of their guile, and a woeful chastisement encompassed the Pharaonites.
Surah Ghafir – Chapter 40, verse 56
إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُجَادِلُونَ فِي آيَاتِ اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَانٍ أَتَاهُمْ ۙ إِنْ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ إِلَّا كِبْرٌ مَا هُمْ بِبَالِغِيهِ ۚ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ
Innal lazeena yujaadi loona feee Aayaatil laahi bighairi sultaanin ataahum in fee sudoorihim illaa kibrum maa hum bibaaligheeh; fasta'iz billaahi innahoo Huwas Samee'ul Baseer
Verily those who dispute regarding the Signs of Allah without any evidence that might have come to them, nothing but vain pride fills their hearts. Yet they shall never be able to satisfy the pride with which they are puffed up. So seek refuge with Allah. Verily He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.
Surah Fussilat – Chapter 41, verse 36
وَإِمَّا يَنْزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَزْغٌ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Wa immaa yanzaghannaka minash Shaitaani nazghun fasta'iz billaahi innahoo Huwas Samee'ul 'Aleem
And if you are prompted by a provocation from Satan, seek refuge with Allah. He, and He alone, is All-Hearing, All- Knowing.
Surah Al-Dukhan – Chapter 44, verse 20
وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَنْ تَرْجُمُونِ
Wa innee 'uztu bi Rabbee wa rabbikum an tarjumoon
I have taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you should attack me with stones.
Surah Al-Dukhan – Chapter 44, verse 56
لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَىٰ ۖ وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ
Laa yazooqoona feehal mawtaa illal mawtatal oolaa wa waqaahum 'azaabal jaheem
They shall not taste death except the death in this world. And Allah will save them from the chastisement of Hell
Surah At-Tur – Chapter 52, verses 17 to 18
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَنَعِيمٍ
فَاكِهِينَ بِمَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ وَوَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ
(17) Innal muttaqeena fee jannaatinw wa na'eem (18) Faakiheena bimaaa aataahum rabbuhum wa waqaahum rabbuhum 'azaabal jaheem
(17) Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, (18) enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire.
Surah At-Tur – Chapter 52, verse 27
فَمَنَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَوَقَانَا عَذَابَ السَّمُومِ
Famannnal laahu 'alainaa wa waqaanaa 'azaabas samoom
Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind.
Surah Al-Jinn – Chapter 72, verse 6
وَأَنَّهُ كَانَ رِجَالٌ مِنَ الْإِنْسِ يَعُوذُونَ بِرِجَالٍ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَزَادُوهُمْ رَهَقًا
Wa annahoo kaana rijaalun minal insi ya'oozoona bi rijaalin minal jinni fa zaadoohum rahaqa
and that “some from among the humans used to seek protection of some among the jinn, and thus they increased the arrogance of the jinn”;
Surah Al-Insan – Chapter 76, verse 11
فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَٰلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا
Fa waqaahumul laahu sharra zaalikal yawmi wa laqqaahum nadratanw wa surooraa
So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy,
Surah Al-Falaq – Chapter 113, verses 1 to 5
(1) قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ
(2) مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
(3) وَمِنْ شَرِّ غَاسِقٍ إِذَا وَقَبَ
(4) وَمِنْ شَرِّ النَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ
(5) وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَاسِدٍ إِذَا حَسَدَ
(1) Qul a'oozu bi rabbil-falaq (2) Min sharri maa khalaq (3) Wa min sharri ghaasiqin izaa waqab (4) Wa min sharrin-naffaa-saati fil 'uqad (5) Wa min sharri haasidin izaa hasad
(1) Say: “I seek refuge with the Lord of the rising day; (2) from the evil of all that He created; (3) from the evil of night's darkness when it spreads around; (4) from the evil of the those who blow on knots; (5) and from the evil of the envier when he envies.”
Surah An-Nas – Chapter 114, Verse1 to 6
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ (1)
(2) مَلِكِ النَّاسِ
(3) إِلَٰهِ النَّاسِ
(4) مِنْ شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ
(5) الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ
(6) مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ
(1) Qul a'oozu birabbin naas (2) Malikin naas (3) Ilaahin naas (4) Min sharril waswaasil khannaas (5) Allazee yuwaswisu fee sudoorin naas (6) Minal jinnati wannaas (End Juz 30)
(1) Say: “I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind; (2) the King of mankind, (3) the True God of mankind, (4) from the evil of the retreating whisperer, (5) who whispers in the hearts of people; (6) whether he be from the jinn or humans.”
